A Case Study in Regional Prehistoric Rockshelter Use in Southeastern Ohio

The May Mound City Chapter of the Archeological Society of Ohio meeting will be held in the Mound City auditorium on Tuesday, May 14th, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Our featured speaker will be Tori Lovelace. Her PowerPoint presentation, “A Case Study in Regional Prehistoric Rockshelter Use in Southeastern Ohio,” is based upon her undergrad thesis.

Tori is an Ohio native and has attended Ohio University for the past four years studying anthropology and archaeology. She has a wide range of experience including the summer 2021 OU archaeology field school under Dr. Joe Gingerich, doing survey work as an intern in the Wayne National Forest under Dr. Andy Tremayne in the summer of 2022, serving as teaching assistant for the summer 2023 OU archaeology field school under Dr. Gingerich, and working on several other digs in Ohio and Virginia. Tori has also spent the last two and a half years working (mostly with lithics) in OU’s anthropology lab. She will be graduated on May 4th and will be attending Mississippi State University as a Master’s student this coming fall studying lithics and hunter-gatherers and working with Dr. Shane Miller.
