What We Do

The Friends group partners with Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, acting as liaisons to build an enhanced cross-cultural understanding between the local community and the Park.

Our partnership means that Friends of Hopewell serves its stakeholders in four key areas:

  • Publicity, where we promote the Park, raise awareness, educate the public about the Park, and generate broader interest,

  • Advocacy, where we support the mission of the Park itself, and build a strong network of friends to achieve its goals,

  • Catalyst, where we serve to drive the Park’s mission, endeavoring to help and enable work being done to fulfill the mission through efforts such as funding research projects and internships, and organizing events to promote and engage with what the Park has to offer,

  • Bridge, where we collaborate with the Park and the community, bringing both together; connect to build cross-cultural relationships with contemporary tribal partners and other key groups; and broadly enhance understanding of Hopewell Culture.
